If you’ve recently had surgery — whether that’s a tummy tuck, lipo, BBL, or any other body procedure — you’ve probably heard the words ‘Manual Lymphatic Drainage’ thrown around. But what actually is it, and why are surgeons and patients alike swearing by it?
The basics
MLD is a specialist massage technique that gently stimulates the lymphatic system — the body’s natural drainage network. After surgery, lymphatic fluid can accumulate in the surrounding tissue, causing the swelling, heaviness, and fibrosis (hardening) that so many post-op patients experience. MLD moves that fluid along, giving your body the best possible start to healing.
What to expect at The Body by Becky
Our sessions are calm, clinical, and tailored to exactly where you are in your recovery. Using light, rhythmic strokes, our therapists work with your body — never forcing anything, always listening. Most clients notice visible softening and reduced tightness after just one session.
When should you start?
Ideally, within the first week post-op — as soon as your surgeon gives the green light. The earlier you begin, the better your results. We work closely with surgeons to ensure your treatment plan is perfectly timed.
